Elogen, a GTT group company, signed a contract with the European specialist in renewable energy solutions, Enertrag SE to design and produce a proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer with a power of 10 MW. Elogen will install its technology on a site near Magdeburg, in Germany, in 2024. The project is one of many green H₂ projects developed by Enertrag in North and Middle Germany.

The Elogen electrolyzer will produce up to 4 tpd of green H₂, the electrical energy needed for electrolysis coming exclusively from renewable sources.

The electrolyzer will enable the power system to compensate for wind and solar fluctuations. The green H₂ produced will contribute to decarbonizing heavy industry and long-distance trucking, to producing electricity in the event of dark-doldrums and, in the medium term, to supplying the 100% H₂ pipelines of the gas transmission system operator, Ontras.
