Stamicarbon, the innovation and license company of MAIRE Group, has signed a license agreement with its customer in the U.S. to develop a basic engineering design package for a 450-tpd green ammonia plant. The plant will be based on the state-of-the-art Stami Green Ammonia technology and is expected to start up in 2026, producing green ammonia to be used as feedstock for nitrogen-based fertilizers.
Stami Green Ammonia enables environmentally friendly ammonia production by deriving nitrogen from the air and using H2 obtained by water electrolysis instead of the steam reforming of fossil fuels. As a result, this technology offers a sustainable and highly competitive alternative to conventional gray processes, paving the way for producing green fertilizers from renewable energy sources.
“Stami Green Ammonia is at the heart of Stamicarbon’s innovation program, and we are excited to see this technology implemented in several projects around the world,” said Pejman Djavdan, Stamicarbon CEO. “It represents a significant leap forward for the production of green fertilizers based on renewable resources."
