Following consultation with the local community and a recent feedback and information event, a planning application for HyBont green H₂ project in Bridgend has been submitted to Bridgend County Borough Council.

At least 20 groups from across the U.S. have submitted final applications to the U.S. Department of Energy hoping to receive up to $1.25 B in federal funding and become one of six to 10 clean H₂ hubs, according to a survey conducted by S&P Global Commodity Insights.

Aramco, Baoshan Iron & Steel and the Public Investment Fund have signed a shareholders’ agreement to establish an integrated steel plate manufacturing complex in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

H₂ can be used as a feedstock in various chemical processes (e.g., hydrotreating in a refinery or ammonia production) or as a fuel across several types of power or heat generating equipment, including boilers, turbines and engines, among others. In this latter function, it can be burned in its pure form or blended with natural gas to reduce overall carbon emissions.

H₂ valleys are envisaged as integrated ecosystems that cover the entire spectrum of value chain elements, from production to final consumption. All activities—zero- and low-emissions H₂ production, storage, distribution and use—are meant to be concentrated in a specific geographic area, resulting in benefits such as lower H₂ costs, enhanced investment attraction and industrial localization.

The global community must make systemic changes to the way it shares value, develops technologies, standardizes designs, creates partnerships, collaborates, and embraces digital tools and thinking. In short, a radical but durable new paradigm for infrastructure delivery must be established that will provide the foundation to move confidently towards net-zero by mid-century. 

Fortescue Metals plans to develop a 300-MW green ammonia and fertilizer complex in Naivasha, Kenya. Once operational, the facility will increase domestic supplies of fertilizers and provide green H₂ to the nation’s electric grid.

Total active H₂ projects have increased by nearly 100 month-over-month (March–April), according to Gulf Energy Information’s Global Energy Infrastructure (GEI) database. With nearly 50% market share, Western Europe continues to account for most H₂ projects under development, followed by the Asia-Pacific region (22%) and the U.S. (13%).

Glenfarne Energy Transition, together with its affiliates, announces the execution and launch of a collaboration agreement with Samsung Engineering to complete feasibility studies for multiple green H₂ and ammonia projects in Chile as part of Glenfarne’s recently announced H₂ fuels initiative.

Air Products announced plans to build a multi-modal H₂ refueling station near its new net-zero H₂ energy complex under construction in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The H₂ refueling station will be Air Products’ first in Canada and the first commercial-scale H₂ refueling station in Alberta.

Avaada Group announced that it has raised $1.07 B to fund its green H₂ and ammonia ventures in India as a part of its ongoing $1.3-B fund raise plan. Brookfield Renewable, through its Brookfield Global Transition Fund, will be investing up to $1 B in Avaada Ventures Private Limited.

Hynion Sweden was granted a grant of approximately $6 MM from the Swedish Energy Agency to build two more H₂ refueling stations, one of which is in Jönköping. Now Hynion and Jönköping Municipality have signed a lease agreement for an area of land in the logistics area of Torsvik, south of Jönköping.
