Zepp.solutions unveils next-gen turnkey 150kW fuel cell system

Dutch H2 fuel cell system developer Zepp.Solutions has presented their new 150 kW fuel cell system for heavy-duty applications. Multiple units can be connected in parallel to serve applications up to megawatt scale. The system is available in different configurations for rooftop, engine bay or machine room applications.

Zepp.solutions announced the X150 H2 fuel cell system on the first day of the IAA. The X150 offers a significantly decreased cost per kW and a 25% bump in power density compared to the 50 kW zepp.Y50 module. With this fully integrated system, the Dutch company sets a new standard for the sector.

Turnkey system

All control and subsystems required to turn H2 into high voltage electrical power are integrated into the module. As a completely integrated solution, the zepp.X150 fuel cell system is an ideal drop-in module. To further minimize engineering efforts and costs in the integration process on the application side, the integrated DCDC converter can be directly connected to the vehicle’s DC power bus. To supply higher power capacities up to megawatt applications, multiple modules can be integrated in parallel. The module is available in several configurations to ensure optimal integration in engine bay, machine room or rooftop applications.

Zepp.solutions uses a unique platform approach in the development of their systems, that allows them to integrate newly available technology or components quicker than competitors. Combined with the advanced in-house developed control software this results in systems with a higher power density than other turnkey modules on the market, making the X150 the clear choice for heavy-duty OEM’s, machine manufacturers and shipyards.

Multiple preorders

Zepps X150 system has already generated multiple pre-orders from companies in different sectors. One of the upcoming projects demonstrating the system’s unique power density is zepp’s own fully H2-electric trailer tractor, DREAMH2AUL. The truck features 50 kg’s of H2 storage at 350 bars to ensure a range of up to 800 km, while still providing sleeping arrangements for the driver. This makes it the first 350 bar H2-electric semi-truck able to tow the standard ISO-trailers (45ft/13.6m) without exceeding the European length restrictions. Currently, 350 bar refueling is the European standard for heavy-duty H2 vehicles. The first two of these trucks have been ordered by Dutch companies Vos Transport and BCTN Group.  Delivery is scheduled for 2023.
