EPM advances its first green H2 pilot in Colombia

EPM advances in a functional pilot that allows exploring technologies for obtaining and using green H2, from the biogas currently produced in the Aguas Claras Wastewater Treatment Plant (PTAR), located in the municipality of Bello, north of Valle de Aburrá, and which is operated by Aguas Nacionales, a subsidiary of Grupo EPM.

The purpose of this pilot is to learn about the costs, uses, efficiencies and performance of H2 technology, which is part of the Energy Transition process led by the National Government.

During his participation in the XXV Congress of the National Association of Public Services and Communications Companies (Andesco), which is taking place this week in Cartagena, Jorge Andrés Carrillo Cardoso, general manager of EPM said, “EPM Group is advancing in the construction of its Green H2 Business Plan and, in parallel, we are working on the pilot at the Aguas Claras WWTP and on establishing alliances that complement our capacities.”

The Organization also carries out market research, business models for the production and commercialization of green H2, with the goal of becoming one of the protagonists of the new H2 industry.
