Rice University develops method to convert hydrogen sulfide into high-demand H2 gas
Rice engineer, physicist and chemist Naomi Halas and collaborators describe a method that uses gold nanoparticles to convert H2S into high-demand H2 gas and sulfur in a single step.
The energy transition for the oil and gas industry
In line with the energy transition movement, the oil and gas industry should consider investment in carbon capture and utilization, and produce low-carbon products like hydrogen and ammonia. Carbon capture will support emissions reduction through flare systems, sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxide and carbon dioxide in the boilers, and sulfur recovery unit thermal oxidizer stacks.
A feasibility study: Decarbonization through H2 fuel
Blending H2 directly into the grid was studied based on various components, which included process, pipelines, custody meters, field instrumentation, gas turbines, compressors, fired heaters, boilers and valves.
H2T: Technology Spotlight
The newest technology in the global H2 sector includes thermal mass flowmeters for H2 measurement, new technologies for green H2 purification and underground H2 storage.
H2Tech: Projects Update
Over the past few years, developers have struggled to secure the necessary financing and offtake agreements needed to take FID, despite the increase in global H2 strategies and initiatives.
H2Tech: Global Projects Data
Gulf Energy Information’s Global Energy Infrastructure database is tracking more than 1,030 active H2 projects around the world. This is an increase of nearly 100 projects from data published in the Q2 issue.
Linde and SLB collaborate on CCS for H2 and ammonia production
Linde and SLB collaborates on H2 and ammonia production, where CO2 is a by-product, and in natural gas processing.
NETL conducts surveillance and monitoring technology research for H2 storage
U.S. Department of Energy researchers across the nation are accelerating efforts to solve challenging production, transportation and storage issues to put H2 to work as a low-carbon fuel option for a range of critical energy applications.
Channel Infrastructure and Fortescue Future Industries progress scoping study for green H2 production at Marsden Point
Fortescue Future Industries and Channel Infrastructure’s study into the potential feasibility of green H2 production at Channel’s Marsden Point site is progressing, with the next phase, focused on manufacturing supply for the domestic market, expected to be finalized in the first half of 2023.

Topsoe supports SGP Bioenergy in renewable fuels, H2 production in Panama
SGP BioEnergy has chosen Topsoe technology to support the production of low-carbon fuels and to allow the facility to operate with net-zero emissions by adding green H2 from the refining process.
Blue H2 can be carbon neutral with CCUS
CCUS reduces emissions from oil and gas and industrial processes and is the key to allowing blue H2 to be blue. It is the only method to capture and permanently store the carbon emissions produced when natural gas is converted to H2.
KBR offers ammonia to meet future sustainable energy and fertilizer demands
KBR announced the launch of its mega 10,000 MMtpd blue and green ammonia offering to help meet the growing global sustainable energy and fertilizer demands of today and the future.
