Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE), Krakatau Steel and PT Rukun Raharja (RAJA) signed a MoU for green H2 pipelines development. The signing was carried out in a series of B20 Summit activities in Nusa Dua Bali.
The signing was carried out by the Chief Executive Officer of Pertamina NRE, Dannif Danusaputro, the Main Director of Krakatau Steel, Silmy Karim and the Main Director of RAJA, Djauhar Maulidi.
“Hydrogen is the future energy and Indonesia has the potential. For this reason, hydrogen development is strategic for the energy transition, as well as Indonesia's net zero roadmaps. Not only on the upstream side, but downstream infrastructure must be prepared. Pertamina NRE actively collaborates with several strategic partners in developing clean hydrogen from the upstream side. We appreciate the strategic collaboration with Krakatau Steel and Rukun Raharja in the hydrogen transmission and distribution pipelines development," said Dannif.
"Together with Pertamina and Rukun Raharja, we are exploring cooperation in developing clean hydrogen transmission and distribution pipeline projects in the Banten and West Java regions of Indonesia," said Silmy.
Previously, Pertamina NRE and Krakatau Steel with IGNIS Energy Holdings, signed a joint study agreement for blue/green H2 plant construction in the Krakatau Steel industrial area integrated with an offshore wind power plant and PLTS expected to produce up to 500 MWp of electricity -1.5 GWp.
Green H2 is H2 produced from renewable energy power plants such as geothermal, solar, wind or water (hydro). Pertamina NRE, through its subsidiary, PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy, is developing green H2 in the Ulubelu geothermal working area, Lampung, with 100 kilograms production target per day. In the long term, it is targeted that green H2 production from all geothermal working areas can reach 8,600 kilograms per day.
Previously at the G20 SOE International Conference, Pertamina NRE had signed a joint study agreement with several strategic partners for clean H2 development, including Ignis Energy, Sembcorp, and TEPCO.
These initiatives in new and renewable energy development and decarbonization are carried out by Pertamina NRE as an environmental, social and governance implementation, as well as support for the Sustainable Development Goals, especially goal 13th, namely tackling climate change.
