Electrolyzers

The Chemours Company announced a $200-MM investment to increase capacity and advance technology for its Nafion ion exchange materials to be located at Chemours’ manufacturing facility in Villers-Saint-Paul, France.

To achieve its climate targets, the industry urgently needs green H₂. The demand for electrolyzers is correspondingly high. To meet the large demand, Sunfire is ramping up its electrolysis technologies to industrial scale at top speed.

John Cockerill and a leading Moroccan energy company have reached an agreement to create a joint venture offering integrated green H₂ solutions in Morocco. In particular, it will include an alkaline electrolyzer manufacturing plant that will be the first of its kind in Africa.

Bloom Energy and Telam Partners have teamed up to market and deploy the Bloom Electrolyzer, as well as Bloom’s Energy Servers, supporting customers with solutions that can efficiently meet their energy security needs and green H₂ demand.

During COP26, Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi committed India to a net-zero carbon emissions target by 2070. As part of the net-zero strategy, he presented “panchamrit” (five elixirs) or goals that would help the country to achieve its target for net-zero emissions by 2070.

Several types of electrolyzers are in service, and with more types being developed and adopted, it is important to understand the hazards related to each type of technology so they can be safely deployed at scale.

Elogen signed a contract with Enertrag SE to design and produce a 10-MW proton exchange membrane electrolyzer. Elogen will install its technology on a site near Magdeburg, Germany, in 2024.

H₂ technology company Nel and Statkraft signed a contract for delivery of 40 MW of electrolyzer equipment and will thus collaborate to create a strong value chain for production of green H₂ in Norway.

Nel Hydrogen Electrolyzer AS, a subsidiary of Nel ASA, has agreed with HH2E for a front-end engineering and design study and a Letter of Intent for two 60-MW electrolyzer plants in Germany.

Accurate accounting of a material used requires reliably accurate measurements. Suppose that a device capable of delivering such could also wirelessly transmit data on flow, mass balance, and material coming in and going out: this device would make it easier for a facility to report on water usage, costs, environmental impact and any other metric the facility is required to report.

Uniper and TES announced the cooperation with Niedersachsen Ports for the planning of a new large joint import terminal with up to 6 berths for TES and for Uniper. In parallel, Uniper will conduct technical studies that should enable Uniper to import around 2.6 MMtpy of green ammonia.

Everfuel A/S has signed a conditional agreement with an undisclosed partner for supply of oxygen from HySynergy 2.0. This is the company’s first agreement to deliver oxygen made from electrolysis, thereby increasing the utilization of the HySynergy facility in Fredericia, Denmark.
