Tenneco has established new test facilities for H₂-powered internal combustion engines (ICEs) at its Powertrain test centers in Burscheid, Germany, and Ann Arbor, Michigan. These two test cells specifically dedicated to H₂ ICEs enhance the company's globally integrated ICE test capabilities, supporting original equipment engine and vehicle manufacturers as they decarbonize the ICE.

Air Liquide and TotalEnergies to create an equally owned joint venture to develop a network of H₂ stations, geared towards heavy-duty vehicles on major European road corridors. This initiative will help facilitate access to H₂, enabling the development of its use for goods transportation and further strengthening the H₂ sector.

The multidisciplinary collaboration intends to develop a complete H₂ value chain for Northern Xplorer’s first zero-emission cruise ship featuring fuel cells and electric propulsion, as well as making pollution-free H₂ available to the wider maritime market at a time of urgent pressure to reduce emissions.

The Germany government has announced that it may provide Namibia €10 B to build a new green H₂ production complex. This infusion of capital will help develop Hyphen Hydrogen Energy’s complex. The project in the port town of Luederitz consists of a solar and wind farm that will provide feedstock to produce green H₂.

Gulf Energy Information’s Global Energy Infrastructure database is tracking more than 1,030 H₂ projects around the world. This is nearly 200 more projects than what the database was tracking in January 2021. Nearly half of these investments are being made in Western Europe, followed by the Asia-Pacific region (21%) and the U.S. (13%). When analyzed by production path, nearly 75% of H₂ projects are green, followed by blue (23%).  

Hynamics has signed an agreement to collaborate with ABB to test the ABB Ability OPTIMAX for green H₂ energy management system, which was launched to market in November 2022, across Hynamics’ plants to help optimize electrical costs of H₂ production by up to 16%, according to ABB modelling.

Uniper has commissioned the Dresden-based company Sunfire to build a 30-MW pressurized alkaline electrolysis plant which will generate green H₂ using renewable electricity and purified wastewater. The final investment decision is still pending.

Fusion Fuel announced that the company has signed an offtake agreement with Portuguese natural gas utility Dourogás for green H₂ produced from Fusion Fuel’s projects in Portugal.

Liebherr-Aerospace Toulouse to demonstrate the ability to generate electrical power, using fuel cells, to supply the major non-propulsive electrical systems of a new generation single-aisle aircraft.

Vertex Hydrogen has signed a Heads of Terms offtake agreement for over 200 megawatts of low-carbon H₂ with Northwich-based Tata Chemicals Europe.
